MEDITATION, LONGING AND EXALTATION IN A SANCTUARY…..
Young Artists Concert Orchestra IV - Season II
The concert concluded with the first movement of the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in G major by the German composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The guest soloist was the young flutist, a graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, Josean Delgado Carrasquillo. Delgado and the Young Artist Concert Orchestra's work and dedication were evident in the precise and light execution of this work. The balance between the orchestra and the soloist was handled quite effectively through the jumps and reiterations of the central theme that characterize this movement. It would be the ability to highlight fast melodic phrases and the articulation and indelible clarity of the soloist, which would add to the je ne sais quois (ineffable, attractive quality) of this piece. After handling the jumps and twists of the exposition and the development of this movement, the cadenza was not of great difficulty for Delgado, who would demonstrate the complete range of the rich expressiveness of his instrument without any problem.
